This blog was created on Saturday March 22, 2014, and is geared to folks whose steadfast aim is freedom through learning, teaching and DOING truth. Incorrect beliefs can prevent constructive forward motions. We cannot afford to allow ignorance, pride and stubbornness to keep us deceived.

Refuse to be prisoners of your perceptions. Cast away nonsense traditions. Freedom resides in authentic and proven truths.

REAL truth is freedom!

Are the Apostolic Epistles Considered Scriptures?

Hi -

Are the apostolic EPISTLES considered scriptures? The EPISTLES aka as LETTERS from Paul, Peter, James . . .?

I've been reading James Brayshaw and he made some points that struck me.

He expressed that the apostolic EPISTLES shouldn't be considered SCRIPTURES. He did mention that the epistles are invaluable in understanding the life, ministry, and death of Jesus . . . He also mentioned that they are invaluable in understanding faith as compared to that of the first century.

###

My comments:

In the New Testament, SCRIPTURES are referred to as what is in the OLD Testament. Some examples are below.

Jesus didn't say, "Ye do err, not knowing THE EPISTLES." He said what's shown directly below in Matthew 22:29, "Ye do err, not knowing THE SCRIPTURES . . ."

The EPISTLES weren't in existence when Jesus was here in the flesh . . .  The New Testament Gospels, Acts -- writings weren't in existence when Jesus was here in the flesh . . .

"Matthew 22:29
Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God."

"Acts 17:2
And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures,"

"Acts 17:11
These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so."

"2 Timothy 3:16
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:"
